Most gothic graphics are assembled from symbols — a pentagram here, a skull there, borrowed from a band's merch table. Gothic architecture never needed any of it. The whole point of the style was verticality: pointed arches, flying buttresses, windows stretched until the stone almost disappears, everything engineered to pull the eye upward. It was drama built out of engineering, which is exactly what the Harajuku gothic scene rebuilt in fabric four centuries later.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe print keeps that vertical pull. The cathedral fills the centre of the panel and runs off the top edge, the rose window sits dead centre as an anchor, and the bats and cloudwork frame it without softening it. Cold blues against the red display type give the composition its temperature. Black is the reading the artwork was drawn for — the cathedral emerges out of the base instead of sitting on it. White inverts the whole thing into something closer to an engraving.
