Look at how the skulls are arranged. Individually they are objects; stacked in even rows they stop being objects and become texture, the way a brick wall stops being bricks. That transition only happens above a certain count, and a count needs room. On a small print the skulls stay separate and the design reads as a collection of things. Across a hoodie back they turn into the surface the figure is set against, which is the effect the drawing was built for.

The garment's own construction fits the subject too. A veiled figure and a hood share a silhouette — fabric falling from the crown, no waist, the face set back inside an opening. Monastic dress and an oversized hood solve the same problem in the same way, several centuries apart.

It comes in black only, and the artwork wants it that way. This is a white-line drawing: every element is defined by what is left dark around it, and on a pale base the halo stops behaving like light and the skull rows lose their separation entirely.

Woven and brushed at 300 to 380 gsm, with a lined hood, ribbed cuffs and hem and a kangaroo pocket. Dense fibre also holds black dye far better than a light knit, which on a design like this is the difference between a graphic and a grey smudge two seasons in.

Take your usual size for the intended oversized drop, or size down for a closer fit. Black trousers and heavy boots below, and a belt if you want the waist defined — volume without a cinch reads shapeless rather than deliberate on a garment cut this wide.
