An anarchy hoodie that carries a collage across a folding panel

A collage has no single focal point and no continuous line running through it. It is built from separate pieces placed at different angles, which means a crease across one fragment does not break the composition — the eye simply moves to the next piece. Compare that with a design built on one large figure or a straight horizontal rule, where a fold across the wrong place ruins the whole reading. Fragmented artwork and a garment that gathers at the shoulders are a good match.

The barbed wire is the exception, and it is placed deliberately high on the panel where the fabric stays flattest. Long straight elements are the one thing a collage still has to be careful with, and running that line near the top rather than through the middle is a compositional decision, not an accident.

It comes in white, black and rice apricot. White is the lightest reading and lets the artwork sit closest to print on paper. Black is the strongest contrast of the three and the one most designs here were composed for. Rice apricot is the warm middle ground — a soft, slightly greyed cream that takes the edge off a graphic without muting it.

Assembled from brushed fleece at 300 to 380 gsm, with a lined hood, ribbed cuffs and hem and a kangaroo pocket. Take your usual size for the intended oversized drop, or size down for a closer fit. Ripped denim below and a studded belt if you want to answer the graphic.

Wash it cold and inside out. Collage depends on several greys staying distinct from one another, and heat is what collapses a tonal range — once two of those greys become one, the layered look disappears and the panel flattens.
