Dice Tee

A dice tee about the moment before the result

Two dice caught mid-air in chrome blue, a chain looping between them, DICE cut in heavy type with On Destiny in script beneath and a short block of text set into the upper corner. The dice tee freezes the one second in any game where the outcome has left your hands and not yet arrived.

That second is the whole appeal of the motif, and the reason dice have been carried as charms far longer than they have been printed on clothing. Roman soldiers gambled with them, sailors carried them, and the phrase about the die being cast is two thousand years old precisely because everyone recognises the feeling. It is not a symbol of luck. It is a symbol of the point past which you cannot intervene.

The rendering is what places it in Y2K rather than in casino imagery. Everything carries a cold chrome finish with hard specular highlights and a blue cast, the way early 3D software rendered reflective surfaces before anyone knew how to make them subtle. The chain adds weight, the small text block adds the technical-document look the era loved, and the glow behind the dice does the rest.

It comes in black and slate, the two darkest bases in the range. That is deliberate: chrome only reads as chrome when there is something dark for it to reflect against. Black gives maximum contrast and the strongest metallic effect. Slate softens it toward a colder, quieter version that still holds the finish.

Fabric is 240 gsm cotton. Chrome rendering depends on very tight tonal steps between highlight and shadow, and any fabric that stretches smears those steps into a gradient — at which point the metal turns into plastic. Oversized cut, dropped shoulder, crew neck. Take your usual size, or size down for a closer fit.
