An eternity skull hoodie where the metal needs a matte ground

A hooded skull inside a carved stone arch, ETERNITY in blackletter above, JOURNEY OF ETERNITY spaced beneath, worked in cold greys and near-whites. The eternity skull hoodie puts a metallic rendering on the least reflective surface in the collection, and that is the interesting part.

Chrome and polished metal in illustration are an optical trick: the drawing convinces you it is reflective because the highlights are hard and the tonal steps are tight. It has nothing to do with the surface underneath. Print the same artwork on something glossy and the two competing shines fight each other; print it on brushed fleece, which is entirely matte, and the illusion has the field to itself. Matte ground, shiny subject — that is the pairing that works.

The arch benefits too. Carved stone is a matte material in reality, and a slightly textured fabric reads as stone far more convincingly than smooth jersey does. On this design the fabric is not neutral: it participates in half the image and gets out of the way of the other half.

It comes in white and black. White is the brightest and the most graphic, closest to how the artwork looks printed flat. Black is the deeper reading, where the lighter elements of the design appear to emerge from the base rather than sit on top of it. Two bases, two very different pieces.

Assembled in brushed fleece at 300 to 380 gsm, with a lined hood, ribbed cuffs and hem and a kangaroo pocket. The kangaroo pocket is doing more than storage on a garment cut this wide: it adds a horizontal line across the front that stops an oversized body from reading as one shapeless panel.

Take your usual size for the intended oversized drop, or size down for a closer fit. Silver at the wrists and black below — a monument graphic wants hardware near it and nothing else competing.
