That is not a throwaway line. A thermal camera shows where a body is losing warmth and where it is holding it — blue fingertips, white chest — and every design decision in outerwear addresses the same map. Cuffs are ribbed because wrists lose heat fast. Hoods exist because the head does. Brushed fleece works by trapping air against the skin at exactly the points the image shows as coldest. The print is a diagram of the problem the garment was built to solve.

Technically the design also needs the surface it gets here. A thermal palette runs through six or seven saturated colours across a very short distance, and each step needs its own space on the fabric. On a light knit those steps collapse into a single orange blur and the anatomy disappears. A dense panel keeps the gradient legible from shoulder to hem.

It comes in black only, and that is a design decision rather than a limitation. This artwork depends on contrast against a dark ground: the lighter tones behave like light rather than like ink, and on any pale base the whole composition loses the depth it was drawn with.

Finished as brushed fleece, 300 to 380 gsm, with a lined hood, ribbed cuffs and hem and a kangaroo pocket. The brushing is what does the insulating: raising the fibres on the inner face creates thousands of small air pockets, and trapped air is a far better insulator than the fibre itself will ever be.

Take your usual size for the intended oversized drop, or size down for a closer fit. Straight trousers below and a technical shell over the top if the weather asks for it — this graphic sits comfortably in gorpcore territory as well as Y2K.
